This beautiful picture story follows charming little Ceramic Robot named Melvin on his, a bit sad adventure. It is a story about longing for love and happiness created by Joshua Margolis. Melvin takes the same route to school every morning with a familiar sense of sadness and loneliness. He is learning how to be a fixer bot, but as much as he loves it, he ends up failing all of his classes. Couples of friends that he has are constantly asking him to join them on their adventures, but he has trouble accepting their offers for fear of new experiences. One day he decided to go against his fears and stumble upon something new for a change. What appeared to be scary experience in his mind soon became quite pleasurable journey. May the Joshua’s story inspire you all to get out there and experience something new every day!
My main source of inspiration are the children and adults I teach on a daily basis. I am also inspired by the beauty of the San Francisco Bay Area. And finally, I am greatly inspired by human interaction and inaction.
I use clay to convey my message because it’s what I have been working with since I was a child. I have put in my 10,000 hrs and I think I have figured out a way to express great emotion and stories from these characters. It was just the next natural step for me to write a complete story.
Have we seen the end of the adventures of this adorable Ceramic Robot?
And the answer is, absolutely not! Joshua’s next project is to finish a coloring book that will go along with this book. He is also working on the outline and character studies for the sequel to Melvin’s first book. How cool is that?! I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t wait for the next chapter of Melvin’s adventures.
