Spiders! These fascinating alien-like creatures have inspired artists and creatives from around the world in their art for ages. Creating something that you envisioned is one thing, having fun along the way is so much better! I had a talk with Piotr Frączkowski, Digital Artist / Retoucher of the MOM?! project. This multimedia art piece is a great example of what can happen if you connect group of creative people.
With little to none limitations, and despite the digital era, they still share feelings for the analog tools. This is where multimedia art project was born. It all started with modeling the MOM shape and printing it in 3D. Later on paint was added. And what all of the creatives were waiting for. The Ice! They photographed a huge ice cube from all the angles needed to be used in postproduction. The final step was to join all of their digital forces and create one memorable piece.
MOM?! is the result of mixing the imagination and all the available techniques. It is also an unreal idea brought to life by a bunch of guys in their mid-thirties who still like to experiment with chemistry do-ityourself- alike kit 😉
Remember our project The Ash? After creating this piece, we knew, we still have this passion for creating things not for sale. MOM?! appeared in our heads when we realized we want to experiment more, but this time including unnatural–neon colors, organic matter, mixed techniques and technologies.
When you have no deadline and there is nobody standing behind your back, you are free, and the only limit is your own imagination. So, why not to mix all the tools you know. 3D gave us an infinite control, we could create absolutely everything. The realism element was added during the photography stage, and 3D printing is like a portal between these two worlds, you virtually built something but got a chance to eventually touch it. And then, there is a phase when you can feel like a child again, canvas and paints, an ice (and iron the block) and all the additional, weird stuff in the studio. And yes, it covers the message, because the only message behind MOM?! is to always find time to create things with people that inspire you and watch what comes from it.
We have a couple of unconventional ideas in our minds – when you already know how to properly use 3D, you have a story to tell, have access to VR, and want to explore parallel universes, expect unexpected.

Mixture of digital art, 3D modeling brought to life this stunning creature from dimension unknown to us. Until now! I know you are interested in seeing all of their other projects, and I am all about giving the credit where credit is due. So here is the list of all the wonderful people that made this project come true.
