I know how much you guys love Steampunk. I love it too. That is why this article today is going to be a special treat. Something amazing happened in Romania. Couple of creative people gathered with a creative vision in mind. They worked hard for two years to complete this unbelievable project. What they created will blow your freaking mind! Romanian based designers Alexandru Tohotan and Zoltan Zelenyak created interior design for a first fully operational kinetic Steampunk cafe in the world.
Name of this magnificent cafe/bar is Enigma. And I must say, it really does live up to its name. Steampunk artwork everywhere. Moving parts, lights, so much details to enjoy. Central detail is of course this huge, multi layered clock. Fully operational and with its lighting and moving wheels it takes you right inside. With its size and immense beauty it will make you feel like you are part of it just by standing by it.
Another great piece of art is the bar itself. With coils, bars, lights, and wooden textures make a great composition to match the interior. Lamps in wires and metal flowers on the ceiling that are opening and closing are adding a lot to the overall feeling of the place. And mechanical contraptions on the front side of the bar give it a mean, and cool appearance.
My favorite part of all must be the robot. Robot gets all the ladies! His head is a plasma globe with a chrome gas mask. How cool is that! The rest of its body has a doll like appearance. Wires coming out of it, and moving legs riding a bicycle are just a few things that make this piece awe-inspiring. Another detail to notice is how well they solved the lighting.
Enigma is full of surprises. Moving parts are everywhere you look. This artwork will definitively make you explore it every time you come for a cup of coffee. Other than its mechanical ingenuity there is a lot of actual artwork painted and drawn right on the metal areas. I will leave you to the details. Happy wandering!
Experiencing Steampunk wonder firsthand
I know your main question now is: “Where do I find this place?”. If you are Europe based, chances are its right in your neighborhood. Enigma Cafe is located in city of Cluj in Romania, and you can find out more info about it on their Facebook page.
I hope I will be able to immerse myself in this unique piece of art soon. I would love to do a follow-up about it and tell about my experience.
Love you all,
