Since I was child my dream world was something special to me. Boundless realm of infinite possibilites that I can explore every single night. I was often wondering how does this dimension look like from perspective of other people. Today I had a chance to take a trip into beautiful mind of Héctor Valdivia trough his surreal art. Elephant back riding, living inside of a whale, and cat playing upright bass. These are just a few stunning otherworldly themes you will experience on this journey.
It is truly difficult to know where my inspiration comes; the reality is, that is a mixture of desires, memories ideas and feelings or sensations, not specifically one thing. Sometimes something comes into my mind accompanied with a strong emotion, and that becomes into the needing of making at least a little drawing … I started at an early age, I was born with a strange urge to draw everything I saw; in doing so I felt like my drawings come to life on paper, as if I bring something more to live in the world of lines and colors, which for me is a world with its own true life. Every time I paint or draw something, I still feel the same I felt as a child.
I use a combination of acrylic with oil paints, crayons, color pencils an ink, depending on what I need to do; the really important thing of technique is to allow yourself to feel comfortable and get what you want more easily and effectively.
The future is a place I love … I’m about to start a series of sculptures of fantastical beings as those who inhabit my paintings. I am also Illustrating an adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, in the form of graphic novel, and of course keep creating dreams to share with the world…
