Moscow is the largest city in Russia, and its capital. Being a great concoction of modern and the old it harbors variety of compelling details wherever you look. Winters in this country can be harsh and unforgiving, but it seems like everything stops on Christmas when most wonderful lights embellish the city streets. Covered in snow and tasteful decorations it looks magical, especially through the eyes of Kristina Makeeva. This talented photographer from Russia created unforgettable winter photography series you will fall in love with. Red Square and the Kremlin were two locations where most of the shots were taken. Each image is a great representative of Kristina’s daring and memorable approach. Beautiful harmony of city architecture and Christmas spirit shines through in these overexposed scenes. Makes you wish winter never ends!
I would call my work simple magic things, as we are looking for the magic in the ordinary.
Everything inspires me! People, animals, beautiful doors, city, cats, pandas, quokka. New Zealand, Scotland, England, the sun’s glare on the walls of our apartment, my cat Cutlet. Beautiful decorations on Christmas trees, landscapes, mountains, sunsets, underwater world, a cup of tea. ..absolutely everything. I love the bright and colorful pictures of any genre, you can see it in my work. With me is always my camera, images and ideas come sometimes in the most unexpected moment. In all of my pictures – there is no plan, only a surprise.
I started to take photos since I was 16, when I was in high school. Photo fascinated me immediately. Since then, for 13 years I photograph without stopping. My technique of shooting is the result of my life experience, read books, music I listen, movies I watched, paintings and countries.
I want to travel around more, of course, and I dream to live in different countries. I think, It will inspire me more on my future projects.
